Advanced Backrest Profiler

Our exclusive Backrest Profiler is a revolutionary tool that captures an exact 3D map of an individual’s shape, ensuring unparalleled spinal and postural support. This profile is then transformed into a fully customised backrest, providing optimal comfort and stability—all designed, built, and upholstered in-house by our Motion Wheelchairs specialists.

Remember using a pin art toy as a child? At Motion Wheelchairs, we've taken that concept to the next level.

Motion Wheelchairs Backrest Profiler

How does it work?

The Backrest Profiler is made up of 10 horizontal layers, each consisting of 46 soft aluminium fingers that gently mould to the user’s contours.

The result?

A detailed, three-dimensional profile pinpointing exactly where support is needed.

This data is then transformed into a custom back cushion, crafted to provide optimal stability, posture, and comfort.

Backrest Profiler FAQs & Further Information

How long does the process take?

The Backrest Profiler typically takes about an hour to complete. During the process, photos may be taken to highlight the difference between an individual’s current seating posture and the improved fit achieved through customisation.

Where does a backrest profile take place?

Backrest progiles generally take place at the Motion Wheelchairs Showroom (34 Shearson Crescent, Mentone, Victoria).

In cases where the user is unable to travel to Motion Wheelchairs, an alternative location (home, hospitality or care facility) can be arranged.

Can I organise a backrest profile for myself, a client, or chair user?

The best first step is to book a complimentary Mobility Assessment with one of our Motion Wheelchairs specialists. This will determine the best course of action for the chair user, and whether a backrest profile is required. If so, it can be organised as part of this Assessment.
