Assessment FAQs & Further Information

How long does an Assessment take?

An Assessment will generally take 1-2 hours depending on the user’s requirements.

Where does an Assessment take place?

Assessments generally take place at the Motion Wheelchairs Showroom (34 Shearson Crescent, Mentone, Victoria). This will assist with the Assessment process and allow the user to trial a broader range of products.

In cases where the user is unable to travel to Motion Wheelchairs, an Assessment at an alternative location (home, hospitality or care facility) can be arranged.

What is involved in an Assessment?

Assessments can vary depending on individual user requirements but generally include:

  • A review of any current seating arrangements and discussion of needs with the chair user, allied health professional and/or family and carers.
  • Trial of a recommended Motion Wheelchairs product based on the individual chair user’s measurements, mobility needs, and pressure care requirements. This chair will be adjusted to fit the user correctly, with further customisations to be added as required. Please note: a carer will be required for any assisted transfers of the client into the chair.
  • Evaluation of the user in the chair over a 30-45 minute period.
  • Review and discussion of feedback, further adjustments, options and customisations.

Is the chair user able to trial a wheelchair or commode?

Yes. The chair user will be spend 30-45 minutes trialling the chair or commode that is recommended by their Motion Wheelchairs Specialist.

Extended trials can also be arranged.

What's the next step after Assessment?

Your Assessment will be followed up with a detailed quote and report, which a Motion Wheelchairs Specialist will discuss with you.

If you choose to move ahead, we will customise the wheelchair based on individual requirements at our workshop in Melbourne.

Once completed, we return to fit the wheelchair and provide full training to all parties in its correct use.
